Service Modernisation Roadmap v2 is live

The Digital Executive Board has just endorsed and published a new version of the Service Modernisation Roadmap.

The Roadmap was decommissioned in June 2026.

Work to modernise government digital services continues through the Digital Government Target State.

Roadmap v2 builds on the successes of the first Roadmap and is focussed on delivering the Government Chief Digital Officer’s (GCDO) top priorities for service modernisation:

  1. Building the digital identity ecosystem
  2. Developing an All-of-Government app
  3. A new approach to back-office transformation
  4. A new approach to digitising government.

What’s in the new version?

  • New work — particularly key digital accelerators for service modernisation.
  • Some multi-year initiatives carried over from the previous Roadmap.
  • The next phase of foundational work delivered in year 1 of the Roadmap.
