Procurement
The government's ICT strategy and supporting work programme includes a focus on streamlining common ICT procurement processes.
Streamlining procurement processes for ICT products and services that are used across many agencies (ICT common capabilities) has been a priority for the GCDO for the past few years.
The existing all-of-government contracts and frameworks:
- simplify agency procurement and security assurance processes for everything from web development to software purchases, telecommunications and identity services
- reduce the costs and the time involved in procurement processes for agencies.
Benefits
Having a common set of procurement agreements allows agencies to:
- simplify their procurement and security assurance processes, allowing focus on value and citizen engagement
- benefit from the market treating ‘Government as a client of one’ which gives the market the potential scale to invest in new delivery models
- engage with the market to co-design and co-deliver innovative digital solutions
- reduce duplicate system investment and enable agencies to access fit for purpose ICT capabilities
- move from varying levels of standards to a shared set of standards so information and services can be shared and reused more easily and efficiently.
